Guide to Remote Patron Authentication
‘RPA’ (Remote Patron Authentication) allows users with a valid library card number to access the OPL online resources remotely (from outside the library) without having to log in to each product separately.
From one of the Online Resource pages, users can select a database of interest to them and click on the link. Users will be then be taken to an authentication page, where they can enter their library card number and PIN. Once this information is entered and verified, users will be redirected to their selected resource. Each session lasts 120 minutes and, during this period, users will be able to access other databases without having to re-authenticate. Once this session expires, users will once again be brought to the authentication page.
Only online resources that are licensed for remote access can be used from outside the library. Resources not accessible remotely are clearly marked with an In Library Use only icon.
If you use any of the following software, you may encounter some problems accessing OPL's databases. The troubleshooting guides listed below will enable you to configure your software to allow access. Should you continue to encounter problems, please email feedback@
