"Nonconformist" denominations were required to submit their records of marriage annually to the civil authority in the period before 1858. Anglican and Roman Catholic marriages were exempted. Dates vary from 1795 to 1857, but there were few submissions before 1831. There is a separate volume for each district. Districts were the forerunners of counties.
