Regular hours resume on September 7 2021


Ottawa Public Library will return to regular pre-pandemic hours at most branches starting Tuesday, September 7, 2021 — including Sunday hours at 10 branches and InfoService as of Sunday, September 12.  

Hours are posted at branch entrances and on the Hours and location page of the OPL website.   

Fitzroy Harbour and Vernon branches are reopening after being closed since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.

The elevator at the Carlingwood branch is currently unavailable.

Rideau branch-Elevator out of service


The elevator at Rideau is currently out of service for maintenance and repairs. Service will be restored on Monday, September 27th.

Holiday Closure: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation


All Ottawa Public Library branches will be closed on Thursday, September 30. Access our online services 24/7 on the Ottawa Public Library website.

Ottawa Public Health has recommended that all residents of Ottawa practice social distancing. Ottawa Public Library will be posting daily ideas of online content to help you make the most of your time at home. Social distancing doesn't mean that we can't live experiences together. Thanks to the magic of the web, your kids will be able to attend shows, story times, and other fun programs.


Here's a list of our top 5 live events for this week.

  1. Join youth poet and musician Gary Rasperry for a live concert online!

  2. Bilingual Online Babytime: Join us online for rhymes, songs, fingerplays and tickles for babies and their parents or caregivers. Thursdays at 11 AM.

  3. Storytime with the OPL: Join us online for live stories, songs and rhymes, for children of all ages. English, Tuesdays at 10 AM: Bilingual, Thursdays at 10AM:

  4. Virtual storytime with the Clarence Rockland Library! Wednesdays at 10:30 AM

  5. Everyone’s favourite Book Lady is bringing children and families everywhere just what they need during a time of unrest. Goodnight with Dolly is a 10-week special series of weekly videos featuring Dolly Parton reading select Imagination Library books. Dolly hopes this series of stories will provide comfort and reassurance to kids and families during the shelter-in-place mandates. Every night at 7 PM.
