Regular hours resume on September 7 2021


Ottawa Public Library will return to regular pre-pandemic hours at most branches starting Tuesday, September 7, 2021 — including Sunday hours at 10 branches and InfoService as of Sunday, September 12.  

Hours are posted at branch entrances and on the Hours and location page of the OPL website.   

Fitzroy Harbour and Vernon branches are reopening after being closed since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.

The elevator at the Carlingwood branch is currently unavailable.

Rideau branch-Elevator out of service


The elevator at Rideau is currently out of service for maintenance and repairs. Service will be restored on Monday, September 27th.

Holiday Closure: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation


All Ottawa Public Library branches will be closed on Thursday, September 30. Access our online services 24/7 on the Ottawa Public Library website.

As we’re all practicing social distancing, Ottawa Public Library has been posting daily ideas of online content to help you make the most of your time at home.  

Here's a list of our top 5 live events for kids and families this week. 

  1. Capital Pride presents Drag Queen Storytime Tuesday April 28th at 6PM! Drag Story Time allows children to imagine the world in which people can present as they wish. Where dress up is real. join Elle Faekwa as they take you and your kids to a world of imagination. 

  1. Ottawa Family Cinema presents a virtual watch party of the movie Tangled! Join them on May 2nd at 2PM for a movie theater experience right from your living room.  

  1. The Cookie Monster has been offering a bite-size new series of videos called “Cookie Monster Snack Chat” with a fresh episode every Tuesday! Catch it on Sesame Street’s YouTube channel.   

  1. Join Kirstie of Culture Shock Canada (Ottawa) for a free, creative 20-Minute Fun Family Fitness workout! Every Friday at 12pm they will bring you a new combination of strength exercises you can do in as little of a space as your kitchen or living room! Bring the family together and come work on bodies to energizing music, and contagious energy! 

  1. Join Lisa Muswagon Monday April 27th at 4 PM for an afternoon of Indigenous music and storytelling!
