Regular hours resume on September 7 2021


Ottawa Public Library will return to regular pre-pandemic hours at most branches starting Tuesday, September 7, 2021 — including Sunday hours at 10 branches and InfoService as of Sunday, September 12.  

Hours are posted at branch entrances and on the Hours and location page of the OPL website.   

Fitzroy Harbour and Vernon branches are reopening after being closed since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.

The elevator at the Carlingwood branch is currently unavailable.

Rideau branch-Elevator out of service


The elevator at Rideau is currently out of service for maintenance and repairs. Service will be restored on Monday, September 27th.

All Ottawa Public Library branches will be closed on Thursday, September 30. Access our online services 24/7 on the Ottawa Public Library website.

Inspired Reads, Conversation and Connectivity: Online Celebrity Book Clubs

Do you find that you have a little more time on your hands due to self-isolation? Are you missing your book club conversations, and that exciting feeling of sharing your thoughts on a really great read?  Why not try joining an online celebrity book club, and find inspired reads, conversation and connectivity!  This blog will spotlight the book clubs of Reese Witherspoon, Oprah and Emma Roberts. 


Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine is an online bookclub that highlights women’s stories.  You can join in the conversation on social media (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) @ReesesBookClub and #ReadWithReese.  Her current pick is The Jetsetters by Amanda Eyre Ward. Previous book club selections include titles such as Such A Fun Age by Kiley Reid and Whisper Network by Chandler Baker. 


Oprah’s book club has been around for more than two decades spanning 80 plus titles. Her current pick is Olive Again by Elizabeth Strout. Past choices include An American Marriage by Tayari Jones and Behold the Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue. 


Emma Roberts and Karah Preiss created Belletrist which aims to  “discover, read, + celebrate a new book every month.”  The current selection is These Ghosts are Family by Maisy Card. Previous selections include The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin and The Farm by Joanne Ramos. 


Please note these book clubs are only available in English.
