October is Library Month in Canada, and all month we’re celebrating friendship! So what better time to make friends with Hoopla, one of the streaming services you have access to thanks to your Ottawa Public Library card! In this spirit of friendship that has helped to keep our communities connected over the past 18 months, we have another gift to offer: more streaming movies, TV and music from Hoopla!
Effective immediately, your monthly Hoopla streaming limit has gone up to six, up from four. That's two more movies, TV episodes or albums every month!
New to Hoopla or looking for suggestions to use up your extra checkouts? What about these titles that speak to this month's celebration:
SoulMate is a nuanced and emotional film that follows the evolving friendship of two women (award-winning performance by Zhou Dongyu and Sandra Ma) as they enter adulthood. Or try Reclaiming Friendship Park, a quirky comedy-drama that highlights the importance of the small connections we make with each other. There’s also The Cuban, a touching drama centering on the unlikely connection that Mina, a disillusioned pre-med student, makes with a care home resident, a musician silenced by dementia. Or for a TV show (that’s a perfect 6 episodes in length – you’ll be able to watch the whole thing with your month’s borrows!), try Girlfriends, an addictive British drama about the increasingly-complicated lives of 3 middle-aged women whose long-standing friendship is put to the test.
