Temporary closure: Alta Vista

Due to upgrades to the front entrance, the Alta Vista branch will be closed from July 26 to August 8. There will be no returns or holds pick-up during that time. Alta Vista branch will reopen August 9 at 10 am.   

Service upgrade

Upgrades to public computers, printers and photocopiers require those systems to be temporarily offline at Cumberland on July 30, 31 and August 3, 2021. Thank you for your patience as we install new systems to better serve you.

Next system-wide closure: Aug 02, 2021

As of July 5, 2021, there will be enhanced in-person services inside most branches, with capacity limits in place. This means:

  • Holds can be picked up on shelves, browsing is allowed and you can read newspapers and magazines.
  • Borrowed items can be returned via book drops anytime.
  • Access to PCs, Chromebooks, and printing is allowed, where these are available.

Masks are required to be worn in line outside of Ottawa Public Library branches, as per the Temporary Mandatory Mask By-law.

The Cumberland branch is a key part of a multi-purpose community centre, including a pool, an arena and a fitness centre. This beautiful branch features a unique local history collection maintained by the Cumberland Historical Society. The Friends of the Cumberland Branch run a second-hand bookstore, The Bookworm.
