Additional library services resuming at several branches starting Monday, Feb. 22

Feb 17, 2021

Starting Monday, February 22, 25 of the 28 open Ottawa Public Library branches will welcome customers inside for returns and holds pick up, with additional services, such as browsing and use of public computers.

Due to provincial regulations, branch capacity will be limited, and masks must be worn both inside the branches and in lineups outside.

The 25 branches offering these additional in-person services are:

Alta Vista, Beaverbrook, Blackburn Hamlet, Carlingwood, Carp, Centennial, Cumberland, Elmvale Acres, Emerald Plaza, Greely, Greenboro, Hazeldean, Main, Manotick, Nepean Centrepointe, North Gloucester, North Gower, Richmond, Rideau, Rockcliffe Park, Ruth E. Dickinson, Sunnyside, Stittsville, St.  Laurent, and Vanier.

The Bookmobile will offer a small collection for browsing at all its stops, as well as contactless returns and holds pick up.

Orléans, Rosemount, and Metcalfe Village branches will start offering contactless returns and holds pick up inside the branches, starting Monday, February 22

The Kiosk Services at the Hunt Club-Riverside Park Community Centre remain closed at this time.

Hours of operation remain the same. Library customers are encouraged to check their branch’s webpage before visiting in-person.

Branches that remain closed are Constance Bay, Fitzroy Harbour, Munster, Osgoode, and Vernon. OPL is working to reopen these locations as soon as possible.

Library materials can be returned at all open branches during hours of operation. Book drops remain closed when the branches are closed.

Ottawa Public Library continues to follow direction from the Province of Ontario and guidance from Ottawa Public Health to stop the spread of COVID-19 in our community.

Osgoode opl

Do you know when Osgoode branch will reopen?

Osgoode branch

Hello, Thank you for your comment. We do not have a reopening date yet for Osgoode branch, but we are working very hard to reopen this location as soon as we safely can. As soon as we have an update to share, we will publish it on all our platforms, and send emails to Osgoode branch customers.

Is the main (central) fully open

Is the third floor open as well? In other words can people sit down?

Main branch - third floor

Hello, Thank you for your question. The third floor of Main branch is not available at this time. Branches are required to follow branch capacity limits, as per the Province’s regulations. That means branches are limited in how many customers they can let in at the time. Staying in the branch to study, work, hang out, or just relax, is not currently possible for these reasons. OPL is trying to ensure as many people as possible have access to its services.
