Regular hours resumed Sept. 7, 2021

Ottawa Public Library has returned to regular pre-pandemic hours at most branches as of September 7, 2021 — including Sunday hours at 10 branches and InfoService. Hours are posted at branch entrances and on the Hours and location page of the OPL website.

Alta Vista branch: Return to regular hours and service

Alta Vista branch has returned to regular service and hours on October 22, 2021.

Overdrive: Issues with older Apple devices or browsers

Recent changes by Overdrive and Libby have impacted compatibility with older versions of Apple's mobile and desktop operating systems. Those who use older Apple devices (Mac computers running lower than macOS 10.12.1 and iPhones/iPads running iOS 9) may have trouble using the OverDrive desktop or mobile apps, while Libby is no longer supported on iPhones and iPads running iOS 9.

Carlingwood branch: Elevator out of service

The elevator at Carlingwood branch is currently out of service.

Cooking from Different Traditions: Memories of Japan

three dishes of food and spoons of spices

No, Japan isn’t just raw fish crazy! Check out these unique dishes I discovered on my 3 week trip around the Japanese continent. Miso soup, Tenshidon (omelette over sushi rice with traditional Japanese sake sauce) with Japanese sesame 7 spice seasoning.

Join Eva Bee for a cooking demo. Registrants will receive the ingredients shortly before the class and will be able to cook along with Eva. We will share the recipe after the class.

Eva honed her cooking skills at the internationally renowned farm-to-table Ballymaloe Cookery School, Ireland in 2014 after working in Ottawa restaurants and catering companies for 6 years. Since then she has worked on international cooking shows such as the James Beard award nominated The Latin Kitchen and Bonnacini’s Italy as a recipe developer and food stylist. Eva is the producer and host of the following shows with a touch of humour and a dash of environmental activism: Coral TV’s Nom Essentials, Rogers 22’s Eva Bee’s Jamboree & Bell Fibe’s Om Nom Ottawa.

Since then she has shifted the scope of her classes and personal chef services to have simplicity, efficiency and deliciousness in mind. They are always inspired and updated with consideration to new developments in wellness and nutrition.
