Kids can take an unforgettable trip to Summerland with Ottawa Public Library’s 2021 Summer Reading Club

Friday, June 18, 2021

OTTAWA – Come make the best of your summer at the Summerland Reading Club! Again this year, the Ottawa Public Library is putting on an exciting program for kids aged 0 to 12, from June 28 to August 20, 2021. Our online program will not only spark a love of reading in young Ottawans, but it will also keep them entertained, active and sharp all summer long!  And a love of reading in childhood sets young ones up for a life of learning, knowledge and discovery.

So, parents, sign up your kids starting on June 23 and open them up to a world of fun, stimulating activities, such as:

  •  Storytimes & StoryWalks
  • Parent-Baby Connections
  • Arts and crafts
  • Dance
  • Technology
  • Science
  • Music
  • Drama
  • Special guests and more!

As of June 23, you can check out the OPL website’s Kids’ Zone for the schedule and all the information you need on the program activities for each week. The activities themselves will be accessible via Zoom, YouTube or Facebook Live.

And to really bring this summer highlight together, we have added to the program an outdoor activity for families called StoryWalk. Families will enjoy the fresh air and a story as they walk together. Of course, all public health and physical distancing recommendations will be followed, so you can have a fun and safe experience.

On top of all of OPL’s activities, our young Summerland Reading Club readers and visitors can also join the TD Summer Reading Club to check out a wide range of eBooks, try out the many activities on the TD club’s website and create their own online reading notebook.

So, parents, mark Summerland Reading Club on your calendar and enjoy watching your kids make discoveries and learn new things this summer. For more information, visit BiblioOttawaLibrary.ca.
