Regular hours resume on September 7 2021

Ottawa Public Library will return to regular pre-pandemic hours at most branches starting Tuesday, September 7, 2021 — including Sunday hours at 10 branches and InfoService as of Sunday, September 12.  

Hours are posted at branch entrances and on the Hours and location page of the OPL website.   

Fitzroy Harbour and Vernon branches are reopening after being closed since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.

The elevator at Rideau is currently out of service for maintenance and repairs. Service will be restored on Monday, September 27th.

  • Material that we missed buying
  • Books from new or little known authors or publishers

Please do not suggest:

  • Very popular and best selling authors, top 40 compact discs, or well reviewed DVD feature films - we will be buying these anyway.
  • Anything over two years old. This is defined as current year plus 2. For example, during the current year (2021), please limit suggestions to material created between Jan 2019 and the date you place your suggestion (today’s date). (See if it is available from one of our SmartLibrary partners.)
  • Items that are not yet published or released in Canada.
  • Films on Blu-ray in any other language than French and/or available in French on DVD. We only purchase French-language films in Blu-ray format that are not available in DVD format.

Please, also:

  • Only submit a suggestion once.
  • Limit your suggestions to 3/month.
