Join OPL and NAC Indigenous Theatre for the launch of Our Stories: Indigenous Book Club January 27, 2021

Wednesday, January 27, 2021

Our Stories: Indigenous Book Club is a new book club made possible by a partnership between the Indigenous Theatre at the National Arts Centre and the Ottawa Public Library. This monthly online series highlights recently published works from Indigenous authors across Turtle Island, including poetry, fiction, memoirs and plays. With Our Stories: Indigenous Book Club, we hope to expose Indigenous and non-Indigenous readers alike to diverse perspectives in the Indigenous community.

Each month, from January to June 2021, will feature a different title that you can borrow from the library’s collection or purchase from an Indigenous owned bookstore. Reflection questions will be posted on NAC's Facebook Event Page where you can engage and share your thoughts about the book throughout the month. At the end of each month, you can join us for a live-streamed conversation with the author.

January’s title is bug, a play by Yolanda Bonnell. bug is a solo performance and artistic ceremony that highlights the ongoing effects of colonialism and intergenerational trauma experienced by Indigenous women, as well as a testimony to the women’s resilience and strength. Join us online on January 27 at 7 pm as we connect with Yolanda Bonnellfor a live conversation.
